It’s not until after 1/3 of the book that there’s the first intro of romance, and it remains a sexual tension for almost the entire book. There’s a lot going on in the stage setup, world-building, and character insertions. It feels a little Van H, Mission Impossible, Underworld, Twilight, Romeo and Juliet all wrapped up in a unique package. Some writers are tellers, and some writers are showers - this author is a shower even as she’s telling.Įlijah is a warrior with the manners of an aristocrat. It’s very easy to get pulled into the scene to see everything through the character(s) lens. There’s something graphic and charismatic about this author’s writing that immediately draws me into her web. I feel like I’ve been trapped in the rabbit’s disco tunnel and slipped a ruffle by a pink purple people eater. Granted, I’m at home with the flu, but this was beyond a fever-induced state of dementia. You ever finished a series and just sat looking at the last page wondering how the hell you got there? Dude Where’s My Brain cause I have no damn idea WTF I read, much less if I liked it.
